About Alford ENT and Facial Plastic Surgery

Located in the Texas Medical Center, Alford ENT and Facial Plastic Surgery is a full-service facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery practice. We provide individualized, personal and comprehensive aesthetic care of the face, head and neck to adults of all ages. The Center prides itself on having the most highly qualified, experienced physicians and patient care staff working together with state-of-the-art technology to provide professional care for all who visit our offices.

Eugene L. Alford, MD, FACS, Director of the Center, is certified by both the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He has years of extensive training and broad-ranging experience in all aspects of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Alford is on the clinical faculty of Baylor College of Medicine, where he holds appointments in the Departments of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Dermatology and Plastic Surgery. His deep commitment to issues concerning hospital services and patient care has resulted in his appointment to many committees at The Methodist Hospital and related facilities. The Executive Committee elected him Secretary/Treasurer of the Medical Staff at The Methodist Hospital in 2001. He is the founding President of the Texas Society of Facial Plastic Surgery, an organization founded to promote educational and patient care goals for citizens of Texas. Dr. Alford is an internationally recognized surgeon who was selected by his fellow physicians for inclusion in The Best Doctors in America. Inside Houston magazine has listed Dr. Alford as one of Houston’s “Top Doctors.” He is a volunteer in the “Face to Face Program,” sponsored by the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery to assist victims of domestic violence in their recovery. In 2006 Dr. Alford received The Methodist Hospital Humanitarian Award for his public service and pro-bono care for survivors of domestic violence. In 2007 The American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery awarded Dr. Alford the Distinguished Surgeon of 2007. This is one of the highest honors and awards given by the academy.

Satisfaction with one’s facial features, skin texture and general appearance, may influence the overall sense of self-image, confidence and personal well being. Important decisions concerning facial plastic and reconstructive surgery and procedures designed to improve facial skin texture, color and appearance should be made only after careful consideration and education regarding the many options and techniques available to consumers. With advanced-technology computer imaging, Dr. Alford and his staff can help you to make informed decisions regarding the treatment most suited to your needs. You can realistically determine the benefit of treatment and at the same time learn about your proposed course of treatment. This allows you and Dr. Alford to clearly understand your goals and desires so that you become equal partners in your care.

Alford ENT and Facial Plastic Surgery adheres to the philosophy that cosmetic procedures are used to improve one’s appearance rather than change it. Dr. Alford strives to produce results that are subtle and allow a more youthful, refreshed appearance to grace one’s face. We believe that when a patient sees friends and acquaintances following procedures such as facelift, endoscopic browlift, rhinoplasty, facial liposuction, and chin/cheek augmentation, the impression should be that the person looks well rested, relaxed, perhaps has lost weight, has a new hairstyle or has recently returned from vacation. Our goal is to help you look refreshed and feel better - not different. We avoid the unnatural “operated” look.

Facial plastic surgery encompasses many types of procedures. In addition to those procedures designed to restore a youthful appearance, facial plastic surgery is also performed for reconstructive purposes, which endeavor to restore normal function and appearance. Dr. Alford has performed many surgical procedures to provide facial balance resulting from losses due to accidental injury and birth defects, in addition to head and neck cancer. Using the knowledge he has gained through years of addressing the problems of head and neck reconstruction and the restoration of function and symmetry to faces paralyzed by trauma, surgery or cancer, Dr. Alford is better able to approach cosmetic facial plastic surgery procedures with an in-depth knowledge of the possibilities open to a patient.

Dr. Alford and his nurse, Linda Oberrender BSN, MHA, RN, CORLN, work closely with patients before, during and after all surgical and non-surgical therapy. Mrs. Oberrender has worked with Dr. Alford for over twelve years as his clinical coordinator, patient liaison, and surgical assistant. Her thorough knowledge of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery pre- and postoperative care makes her an invaluable component of the medical team and an important asset to our patients.

The Center enjoys a close relationship with the world-renowned Methodist Hospital and can offer their facilities for surgical and post-operative patient care. Our medical team also has privileges at Doctors Surgical Center, serving the western suburbs, and other medical center hospitals, so that patients may exercise their preference of surgical facility.
